Still, I stepped into the water.

The first few attempts were exactly what I expected I fell, again and again. The saltwater, the tired arms, the struggle to balance… it all made me question why I even tried. Meanwhile, in the distance, I could see others going through the same thing some falling, some starting to stand. It reminded me that everyone has their own rhythm out here.

Then, it happened.

For a brief moment, I stood up on the board. Not perfectly, not for long but long enough. And suddenly, everything changed. The fear faded, replaced by something lighter… a smile I didn’t plan, but couldn’t hold back.

In that small moment, I understood something simple: surfing isn’t about being perfect. It’s about the process. About falling, trying again, and finding joy somewhere in between.

And that’s when I realized surfing really is as fun as it looks.
